American Legion Baseball This Is Where It
All Starts For Kids To Make The Major Leagues
Baseball players are defined first by little
league than American Legion Baseball. American Legion Baseball was
founded in 1925 in South Dakota. It is the oldest baseball program
around.
American Legion Baseball has had more players participate than any
other high school program around. Every where in the country someone
you know have played in this program or played against someone who
has.
Over 60 percent of the players who have played in the major leagues
have played in American Legion Baseball. That's a very impressive
number. Over 75 percent of college players have played legion ball at
some level.Baseball Budgets And Scholarships Are Key
Budgets for an American Legion team is really small compared to other
teams in other sports. Most Legions sponsor their own local team.
Hoping their team can make it all the way to the championship.
The pay out is not a lot either at around $20,000 dollars. The
experience players gain from playing can never be measured by dollars.
Players can also earn scholarships to further their education.
Over 150 players have received scholarships to play college baseball.
That is a lot of kids that have seen their dream of playing major
league baseball come so much closer to being reached.
In today's world the American Legion is very important tool in teaching
sportsmanship, goodwill and the fundamentals that otherwise they might
not get. Getting a good support is key to teaching young men these
qualities.
Hopefully American Legion baseball will forever be a part of our
society. Giving kids chances to play a game they love.
