Baseball Bats are wood bats dying a slow
death

Seems everyone is switching to aluminum bats from Little League to
College teams. Baseball bats aren't what they use to be but their
still is a market for wooden bats. Louisville Slugger still makes
wooden bats for Major League Baseball. They have been making them for
Major League Baseball since 1884. Louisville Slugger is also know for
their baseball gloves and other fine products they make.
The wooden bat has evolved through the years. But a little baseball
history first. The wooden bat came about from John Hillerich who was
a woodworker watching guys always breaking their bats in the games
he would watch. So he went home with his dad and a ballplayer name
Pete Browning and took some white ash and they made a bat which
Browning used in the game the next day and
went three for three.
Louisville Slugger was born. Wooden bats became the craze. Bats were
very heavy back than but today they are more lightweight and the
handles are a lot thinner. William Shroyer got a patent in 1924
for the first aluminum bat. Worth Sports in the 1970's introduce it
into Little league and the rest is history. Aluminum bats have
become part of baseball history just as much as baseball uniforms
has a history to it too.
So the big question will we ever see Barry Bonds or Sammy Sosa
swing a aluminum bat. Not for a long time it seems. Wooden bats are
a part of baseball history and have stood the test of time.
