Basketball Court: Not Every Court Is Equal
In Size And Distance by Kenny Watkins

I've always wondered are all basketball
courts the same. Well with a little research I learned the answer.
Different levels of basketball have a different basketball court to
play on. So not every basketball court is the same.
NBA and college basketball court is 94 feet long by 50 feet wide. Now
that differs from the High School court which is only 84 feet long and
50 feet wide. Now as we go down in grade the courts do get smaller.
A junior high school basketball court is only 74 feet long and 42 feet
wide. The distance from the ground to the rim is only 10 feet. Maybe
the way today's stars can leap maybe they should raise that. The free
line is always 15 feet from the line to the backboard.
Now on college and the high school three point line is the same 19
feet 9inches from the basket. Nowadays basketball court has changed a
lot. Today's courts have designs built into the floors where years
past they were just one whole color.
Backboards on a basketball court measure 72 inches wide by 42 inches
high. Most backboards are made of fiberglass in today's gyms because
of their durability.
Advertising on a basketball court is also becoming even more popular
as teams and schools are always on the lookout for extra ways to make
some extra money. Basketball court will always be for basketball but
schools have to turn a profit.
