Florida Fishing Trips - Tips and Information To Plan Your Trip

Florida is without a doubt, one of the most interesting shores that you may find in the United States. A state with virgin forests, abundant natural beauty, and a fantastic opportunity for born anglers. The state is an interesting mix of modernity and leisurely old world pastimes.

The coastline of Florida is very long, one of the longest that you may find in any of the United states. And that coast hosts some of the most entertaining fishing opportunities available.

For example, consider the fishing city resort of Fort Lauderdale. It is situated in south-eastern Florida. It is the seat of Broward county. Not only is it a major beach resort and Yachting center, Fort Lauderdale is one of the most important fishing resorts in Florida. It is a beautiful place. Because of its navigable waterways, the city has attained the apt identity as the Venice of America. It is primarily a salt water fishing resort. The beauty of the place attracts a lot of people to its shores from around the country in the fishing season. My friend Andy and I try to go out once a year for marlin and then head on down to Mango's in South Beach for some after fishing  partying.

One good thing about taking a trip to Florida is that, you can have everything prepared even before you actually set foot in the state. Everything is available for booking from a distance. You can book your resort, you can book your tickets and you can book your own boat with a captain whose name you are already aware of. Most Florida resorts have Internet sites where you can arrange for all aspects of your vacation much before you actually leave for the airport.

If you remember the geography of Florida, it is a state that juts out from the main land and is more or less peninsular, surrounded by water on three sides. Which makes the long coastline of the state peppered with small and large fishing centers. You have Palm coast on the East, you have Cape Coral on the West, there is Tampa, Port Charlotte, the Florida Keys, Palm Bay, Fort Orange, etc. all around the state, all coastal cities. Many great fishing resorts. There are also a number of great places to fish near Miami. My favorite is down in the Florida Keys where you can catch anything from barracudas to sharks.

If you are not the planning kind, you might just take your trip to Florida and go directly to one of the many piers and decide on which boat to take. Just charter a boat from the local friendly captain who will also know a great deal about fishing and the weather and set sail with your gear. If you do not want to go out to the sea, there is no dearth of options for you in the state of Florida. You can always choose a lake and charter your own boat for a pleasant trip.

For example, take Lake Okeechobee. It has taken it's name from the Seminole Indian word for 'Big Water'. It is the largest freshwater lake in the United States that is entirely situated in a single state. It is 37 miles long and 30 miles wide and is one of the most picturesque locations in south-eastern America. Lake Okeechobee is a haven for prize bass catches. It is said that bass are more densely packed in this lake than anywhere else in the country.

Decide upon where you exactly want to fish, surf the Internet and book your passage and your boat. Clean up your tackle box and set off for your prize destination.
