Nebraska Football: Roll On Big Red

Nebraska football is two words that when
spring arrives everyone talks about. Football in Nebraska is like a
ritual with their fans. They eat and breathe and sleep Nebraska
football. Its no wonder with the success they have had.
Nebraska has won 5 National championships two under Bob Devany and
three more under Coach Tom Osborne. That's no wonder they have such
rabid fans in Nebraska. But this can also be a curse.
During there last three title runs in 94,95 and 97. By winning
back-to-back championships in 94 and 95 they became only the second
team in College Football history to do it. That's quite an
accomplishment.
But with all success Nebraska Football has had, there have also been
problems. On field incidents with their players have also but them in
a bad light, even though it's only a few players who caused incidents.
Recently though after the retirement of Tom Osborne the Nebraska
football program has seen a steady downward spiral. The once feared
Big Red machine is now just a machine running on an empty tank.
Teams no longer fear playing them like they use to. Nebraska has
become a shell of it's once powerful self. Nebraska decided it was
time for a different direction so they brought in Bill Callahan and he
put in a total new offensive approach.
So far it hasn't been very successful but only time will tell if
Nebraska Football returns to a dominant force. It takes time and only
time will show if they are headed in the right direction.
