St. Louis Rams - Airing it out for the fans

The St. Louis Rams have accomplished a lot in their limited time in St
Louis. Homer Marshman and his general manager, Damon (Buzz) Wetzel
picked the Rams. Their team colors are blue and
gold, with a charging ram with blue horns.
The St Louis
Rams were also known as the Los Angeles Rams and the Cleveland Rams.
Getting ready for their first season the Rams were supposed to play in
the Trans world Dome but played two games at Busch Stadium.
In their first year under coach Rich Brooks the Rams finish at 7-9.
Looking to unload some unhappy stars the Rams get rid of Jerome Bettis
and Shawn Gilbert to make room for their
number 1 draft pick Lawrence Phillips out of Nebraska. But in the end
that was an failed option as Phillips was an NFL bust. Later that year
Rich Brooks was fired.
To shake things up the Rams bring in Dick Vermeil who had been out of
coaching for 15 years. Along with him came a group of older experience
coaches. They draft Orlando pace number 1 to anchor their offensive
line. But struggle for most of the year.
Heading into the 1999 season Dick Vermeil was going to go with
untested Arena Football League veteran Kurt Warner. Everyone laughed
at the idea. Quickly Kurt showed he belonged and let the Rams to the
playoffs with a 13-3 record.
In January the Rams hosted their first playoff game and won and
advance to the NFC Championship game. They beat the Bucs and their
first trip to the Super Bowl. In Super Bowl
34 the Rams face the Tennessee Titans inside their element a dome.
That's how they got their name "The Greatest Show On Turf ".
The game went back and forth but in the end the Rams defense made a
stop at the one yard line to preserve the win. Kurt Warner went from
not wanted to MVP. Dick Vermeil retires as a champion. probably the
most forgotten player on the Rams is Marshall Faulk. But without him
they would have never been as good as they have.
After Dick Vermeil's retirement they hire Mike Martz to coach the
Rams. Mike Martz first year showed a lot of promise but fell short of
the Super Bowl. The following year he leads them to the Super Bowl.
They are heavy favorites against the New England Patriots.
However the St Louis Rams hearts would be broken when Adam Vinatieri
hit the game winning field goal. The Rams would make playoff
appearances the next few years. but inner fighting leads to Kurt
Warner leaving and Marc Bulger leads the Rams now.
With new blood coming in and players moving to different teams. Only
time will tell if the Rams get better or digress.
