Tennis Apparel Memorabilia Craze by
Jerry Richie
Tennis apparel and memorabilia go up a lot in sales around the
month of august. Why is this month the busiest of the year. There are
many reasons for this sudden tennis craze.
US Open
The US open is usually held in August in New York City's Flushing
Meadow park. With all the tennis matches on television people have
tennis on there minds. They also are looking at what the tennis
players are wearing and going out and making a purchase. Some of the
most popular items are whatever Serena Williams or "the prince of
tennis" Andy Roddick is wearing. This is the cause of the spike in
tennis apparel.
Tennis Memorabilia
As tennis fans are watching they are also seeing a bunch of
celebrities and former tennis superstars in the crowd. The exposure
the US open brings to the home viewer of tennis matches is really far
beyond the expectations of the TV networks. The normal tennis fan sits
at home and sees Billie Jean King or John McEnroe in the crowd and
they say to themselves I should buy an autograph of that player. This
is the cause of the spike in tennis memorabilia.
The Tennis Craze
This time of year also brings out all the tennis players in the
colder climates that normally wouldn't be playing tennis. Sure you
might say it balances out as it gets to hot in some states to play
tennis but that doesn't seem to be the case at all. This is probably
due to the US open being on television as well.
With ESPN having more channels you can almost enjoy tennis 24/7
now. If you like tennis and you don't have cable you may want to look
into getting it.
